Our global client uses proprietary WordRank technology to evaluate
the relative significance of words and phrases, analysing over 3
million internet pages per second to equip agencies, advertisers
and publishers to enhance the performance of the inventory and
audiences they buy or sell in digital media advertising. GDLS have
been working with this client for over 4 years in translating core
terms and specific channels for all their clients. We have a team
of over 35 SEO translation specialists to maintain the terms, but
we are now looking to create a specific APAC team, which will
oversee the ever changing social media terms in this region. We
need social media wizards, bloggers, internet addicts to scout the
internet for everchanging keywords.

Job Description
You will ensure that our client's segments are updated every two
weeks to reflect current relevant terminology trending on the
Internet/Social Media, to ensure relevant categorisation.
Vernacular and vocabulary terms are constantly changing in local
language markets, and customers in the APAC region are demanding
a local knowledge of slang and social media words to constantly
edit and refine the words used across Brand Safety segments,
including anti-government segments, which protect advertisers from
appearing on content pages they wish to avoid. It is imperative
that the segments are reviewed each fortnight, with appropriate
changes made according to processes laid down by GDLS. As part of
the monitoring team, you will monitor Internet media to give early
warning to Editorial of disasters, accidents, and other events
from which GDLS needs to keep customers safe.

Job Details
This is a part-time on-going role involving 6 hours every 2 weeks
(12 hours monthly – 1.5 days a month). Tasks include reading
social media and routinely checking specific media sources to
distil changing language and descriptors for content
The role involves working from home, with remote communications
through to the Editor and QA manager at GDLS.

Main Responsibilities
• Monitoring Internet/Social Media/media in general, for
trending keywords including colloquialisms, trending neologisms,
slang with a view to ensure the segments contain a dynamic set of
local current usage terms.
• Review current segments with a view to adding any relevant
contextual terms.
• Monitor media for disaster/accidents/current affairs etc.
• Carry out ad-hoc testing for articles to ascertain that
relevant text is being extracted from websites and check that
segments are returning relevant categorisations.
• Ad-hoc translation of segment names and descriptions.
• All these tasks will be documented and training provided.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Needed for the Job
• Native speaker MALAY, familiar use of slang by a millennial
generation
• Very engaged with online media/social media and current
affairs
• Enthusiastic about evolving trends over the Internet
• Passionate about the evolving use of words
• Analytical mind with attention for detail
• Good understanding of English
• Undergraduate/Graduate with Degree-level qualification
preferably in Translation studies.
